Nico Botha reflects on Good Friday and Human Rights Day

In his most recent contribution in the Beeld, prof Nico Botha, reflects on the significance of the connection between the Good Friday and the Human Rights Day. This year these two days is on the same date. He however reflects on the link between the cross and Sharpville. His article which is entitled, Christene durf nie anderkant kyk nie, (Christians dare not look the other way)is a salutary reminder of the fact the Christianity, at heart is a remembering faith, a faith that draws hope from the cruel death of Jesus Christ, a faith that lives in the shadow of the cross. This is also at the heart of our understanding of reconciliation- not a forgetting of the cross, but drawing from the hope that is find in redemptive suffering.
